212 days into 2011 (or 8 months or two thirds or 30 weeks) and it was time to get some of the year’s best records down onto one mixtape. Admittedly there are a few noticeable absentees – red tape tends to get in the way. But most are present, and between them they highlight what a great year in music we are having.

When Bowlegs starts dreaming, be it day or night, we like to soundtrack it with pop – but it can’t just be any sort of pop, it must adhere to our strict guidelines.

We knew the final track had to go […]]]> We decided it was time to make a mixtape featuring some of our favourite female artists – which at first proved fairly easy, being that we are currently overloaded with great material from that particular gender. Yet as we piled up a mountain of truly wonderful music it soon became apparent we would have to discard 80 per cent of it – we kind of figured no one wants a seven-hour mixtape.

We knew the final track had to go out to Poly Styrene – the singer for X Ray Spex who died earlier this year – she was a true original and an inspiration to many.
