Trailer Trash Tracys

After a long period of internet buzz (check their single Candy Girl/You Wish You Were Red) the Trailer Trash Tracys release their debut record, Ester, next week. It’s a collection of broken down pop and introspective dreams – just the sort of thing we can’t get enough of. Guitarist Jimmy Lee took some time out to give our Call Back a good going over.

Bowlegs: Which album has been a major influence in your life, and why?
Jimmy-Lee: Sound of Music soundtrack. It made me curious of music at an early age.

Bowlegs: What was the last album you bought?
Jimmy-Lee: Status Quo Greatest Hits, for my father’s birthday.

Bowlegs: Which bands have you been listening to this week?
Jimmy-Lee: Cuban Rumba. Like Pico Quento’s can band and Coconut Quarters.

Bowlegs: Name an up-and-coming band Bowlegs should look out for?
Jimmy-Lee: 100% Beefcock and the Titbursters.

Bowlegs: What was the last gig you went to?
Jimmy-Lee: 100% Beefcock and the Titbursters.

Bowlegs: Who is the best band you have ever shared a bill with?
Jimmy-Lee: Not sure ‘best’ – but supporting The XX was memorable.

Bowlegs: What was the first gig you ever went to, and who did you go with?
Jimmy-Lee: The Prodigy – with some school friend.

Bowlegs: What made you realise that being a musician was the career of choice?
Jimmy-Lee: You should re-phrase that too: “What made you realise that you didn’t want a career, and to become a musician”.

Bowlegs: What is your favourite music documentary?
Jimmy-Lee: Dig!

Bowlegs: What was the last film you saw, and was it any good?
Jimmy-Lee: Le Samourai (1967) – it was poetic.

Bowlegs: What do you see when you look in the mirror?
Jimmy-Lee: Cosmic warrior.

Bowlegs: Name a song that takes you back to a certain time in your life?
Jimmy-Lee: Raveonettes – Love in a Trash Can. Reminds me of moving to London.

Bowlegs: What is your favourite album cover of all time?
Jimmy-Lee: Grace Jones – Island life.

Bowlegs: What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?
Jimmy-Lee: Louis CK interviews Donald Rumsfeld.

Bowlegs: Do you think music videos are important and do you like making them?
Jimmy-Lee: I don’t like making them. Important if you intend to brainwash people via black magical ways to sell your ‘art’ as a ‘product’.

Bowlegs: Are albums still important or is it more about individual tracks?
Jimmy-Lee: Albums are important if you want to relate to the artist more.

Bowlegs: What do you have planned for the next six months?
Jimmy-Lee: Calling my parents more, seeing the dentist, play shows out of the UK and more of Europe.

Bowlegs: What is on your iPod?
Jimmy-Lee: I don’t have one.
