Outshine Family – Galeria De La Luz

Posted on 15 May 2011 by Bowlegs

Matthew Liam Nicholson is the man behind the sounds, intricacies and many melodies created by the collective Outshine Family. Their album, ‘Galeria De La Luz’, was actually released back in January on Blackmaps Records, yet with the modern invention of the Rewind feature Bowlegs gets to make up for past oversights.

This album is epic in an intimate way, if that makes any sense. It has it all, filmic strings (hear the backend of the beautiful ‘Stars Wept Upon Us’), harmonised, vocal beauty in ‘Seven Tongues Tasting The Night’ and experimental drone-like humming in ‘May Death Less Darkly Find Its Way’. And in-between such moments lies a collection of banjos, guitars, percussion and reflective, whispered song-writing. It is like a Classical Folk album with experimental leanings and self-weaving paths.

Bowlegs has found itself lost in this record for the last month, and we have little intention of looking for a way back home – come join us.

Here is a great video from the band:
